About Us

Founded in 1959

Opening the green doors in 1959, Peter Kingham served the people of Croydon with his local garage on Keens Road, offering repairs, maintenance, and fuel. Peter’s son, Keith Kingham, joined in 1975 and has run the award-winning family business ever since.

  • The business expanded in 1975, opening the showroom at 39-41 South End. Through the 1990s we extended the space to include a larger showroom to hold fifty cars overlooking Spices Yard. The Subaru franchise joined us in 2009, alongside Alfa Romeo and SEAT.

We have enjoyed fantastic growth over the years and still remain a family-run business at heart.

  • Here at Kinghams we are proud to help the environment where we can

    and we're dedicated to:

    • Avoiding unnecessary waste

    • Repairing rather than replacing wherever possible

    • Using licensed contractors to reprocess and recycle workshop waste

    • Containing or filtering potentially hazardous materials and gases whilst on site

    • Using eco-friendly alternatives where possible

    • Re-using and recycling in-house

Here is an insight to a few of the things we do after we have serviced your car:

    • Engine oil is processed and recycled into Steel Production

    • Brake Fluid is processed, recycled and re-used as brake and steering fluid

    • Antifreeze/coolant undergoes an anaerobic digestion and becomes biogas, clean drinking water and fertiliser

    • Oil filters are crushed, squeezed and smelted so the oil is recycled and the metal is re-used

    • Tyres have the rubber and metal separated, so the rubber is used for playgrounds and the metal for Armco barriers

    • Batteries have the lead/acid/plastic removed and component parts are re-used

    • Plastics are re-engineered into duvet stuffing

    • Card/hardboard is pressed and shredded and used as pet litter

    • Pallets are re-used as pallets

    • Metal is recycled as raw materials

    • We use recyclable rags that we clean and reuse in a continuous cycle

    • We buy cleaning solvents and fluids in bulk and then re-fill trigger guns, using alternative chemicals instead of aerosol cans

    • We use low energy L.E.D lighting where possible and energy efficient gas heaters
